Yes we have dues. All Unions have dues. What is the money spent on? 1. Lobbyists at the Federal level (putting education first, Social Security fairness, and more) & State level (Adjunct health insurance, ERS & TRS funding, CC funding, and more). 2. Publications: as a member you will receive "American Educator", "On Campus", "AFL-CIO newsletter", and all ACCAFT newsletters. Communication is a key. 3. Legal Defense Funds - our dues fund the AFT legal defense fund and our own private fund. The rest of our money is spent on meetings, materials, and a staff position. We are thrifty with your money and we have not raised dues in several years (in fact, they have been lowered for Classified & Prof-Tech).
